Overstrand Municipality wishes to remind struggling households to register on the municipal indigent database to qualify for free basic services and/or re-apply for Indigent Subsidy support.
The Finance Department always has staff available during normal office hours at any of the municipal offices to offer assistance with enquiries or fill out forms. There are also additional staff members at community halls on certain dates to make it as easy as possible for residents to apply.
After a special request from Gansbaai residents who live in and around the CBD area, two dedicated clerks will be on duty at the Gansbaai Municipal offices from 07:45 – 16:30 on Wednesday, 22 May 2024, to help individuals to register or to re-apply for the subsidy.
On 21 May they will be at the Moffat Hall in Mount Pleasant from 10:00 till 18:00. On 22 May they will be at the Zwelihle Community Hall from 10:00 – 18:00 and on 25 May they will be at the Masakhane Community Hall from 09:00 – 12:00.
You can apply for indigent support if:
- The total household income of people staying on the property is not more than R8801.00
- Average units’ electricity purchased do not exceed 500 kWh per month
- Average consumption of water over the previous 6 months do not exceed 20 kℓ per month
- Occupy the property as the primary residence
- You are a South African citizen
- You do not have more than one property registered as owner
- Your property may only be used for residential purposes
